Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan ups agricultural production in 2020

Agricultural products worth over 537.5 million manat ($316.2 million) were produced in Azerbaijan’s Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic in 2020, Trend reports referring to the report of the republic's State Statistical Committee.

In accordance with the data, the production of agricultural products in Nakhchivan during the reporting period grew by 4.6 percent.

A pumping station at the Araz reservoir, a line of pressure pipes, a pumping station in Kulus village of Shahbuz district, closed irrigation networks in Turkesh, Salasuz, Maralik, and Boyukduz villages are being constructed.

The funds in the amount of one million manat ($588,235) were allocated to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic upon the Azerbaijani president’s order dated April 23, 2020 ‘On additional measures to improve the irrigation of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and meet the needs of the population in drinking water’.

In 2019, agricultural products amounting to more than 507.6 million manat ($298.6 million) were produced in the republic.
