European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will continue working with local Kazakh SMEs to help them grow and innovate in 2021, the EBRD official told Trend.
The official noted that the bank expects that during the next year it will still be dealing with economic challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
"Hence, our work will likely reflect that. Through our projects we want to promote green innovations, gender inclusion and digital acceleration, which are some of the biggest priorities of the EBRD in general," the official said.
The EBRD representative noted that recently the second intake of Women in microbusiness program was launched by the bank in Kazakhstan.
"Targeting growth of microenterprises with women leaders, it will begin before the end of January. Finally, our programmes with Kazakhstan government were recently prolonged for five additional years, which will allow us to support even more local enterprises," the official said.
To date, the EBRD has invested over $7.95 billion in the economy of Kazakhstan through 280 projects. The support of small businesses is particularly important and in-line with the EBRD’s country strategy for Kazakhstan.
