The share of state in Kazakhstan’s economy has been decreased to 14.9 percent in 2020, Kazakhstan’s Ministry of National Economy Asset Irgaliyev said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
Irgaliyev made the statement during a collegium of the Ministry announcing the report on the results of the ministry's activities in 2020.
He noted that in 2020 the ministry took measures to decrease the state share in country’s economy and to develop the competitiveness.
“The implementation of the Comprehensive Privatization Plan until 2020 was completed and a new plan until 2025 was developed. The new plan provides for the introduction of 736 organizations into a competitive environment,” the minister said.
In his words, all these measures led to a decrease in state share to 14.9 percent.
Irgaliyev also noted that three packages of anti-crisis measures were implemented in 2020, which were aimed at significantly reducing the tax burden and expanding access to financing amid the ongoing pandemic.
“The measures taken ensured an increase in the share of SMEs in GDP up to 30.5 percent in 2020,” Irgaliev said.
Irgaliev also reported on the development of public-private partnership (PPP) mechanism in the country naming it one of the tools for attracting investments.
“As of January 1, 2021, 863 PPP projects were implemented for the amount of 1.5 trillion tenge ($3.5 million). The number of PPP projects increased by 86 percent in comparison to 2018,” he said.
