Iran boosts exports of agricultural products

Iran's agricultural exports increased by 7.2 percent in terms of value and 24.9 percent in terms of volume in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Deputy Director of Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Mehrdad Jamal Arvanaghi said, Trend reports citing the IRICA.

The deputy director emphasized that Iran exported more than 8.8 million tons of agricultural products worth $6.1 billion last Iranian year.

“While in the preceding Iranian year, Iran had exported about 7 million tons of agricultural products worth $5.7 billion,” he added.

Arvanaghi noted that Iran's agricultural exports were mainly pistachios, potatoes, tomato paste, various biscuits and sweets.

According to him, Iran's agricultural products were mainly exported to China, Iraq, Russia and Afghanistan.

Reportedly, Iran's total foreign trade turnover amounted to about 146 million tons worth $73 billion in the last Iranian year. During this period, Iran exported 112 million tons of goods worth about $35 billion and imported 33.4 million tons worth $38.4 billion.
