The cement production of Iran increased by about 13 percent over the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020 through March 20, 2021), compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 through March 19, 2020), Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Alireza Razm Hosseini said, Trend reports citing the ministry.
He made the remark at an event dedicated to the recommissioning of a cement plant in the Alborz Province (northern Iran) after repairs.
The minister said that Iran's annual cement production capacity is 80 million tons, while the consumption is about 70 million tons, at present.
“At present, about 80 percent of Iran's cement plants are built in direction to support domestic production, he added.
Razm Hosseini noted that several years ago, Iran was one of the importers of cement, and now it is considered one of the exporters of cement.
Today on June 1, the plant of Abyek Cement Company in Alborz Province, which is Iran's largest cement plant, was re-put into operation after repairing. The plant can produce 8,500 tons of cement daily. The plant employs 1,200 people. The plant's products will be produced for export.
