In total, 3,000 industrial enterprises are currently operating in the Yazd Province (central Iran), said the Chairman of the Industry, Mine, and Trade Organization of the Yazd Province, Mohammad Reza Alamdar Yazdi, Trend reports citing the organization’s website.
The chairman emphasized that more than 180 trillion rials (about $4.28 billion) have been spent on these enterprises, which employ more than 100,000 people.
Alamdar Yazdi added that Yazd Province makes up 1.3 percent of Iran's population. Also, the province accounts for 4.4 percent in terms of industrial production.
“These enterprises produce more than 800 types of products and more than 407 types of them are exported to 90 countries,” he said.
As reported, Iran's Yazd Province has a population of 1.2 million. While the total population of Iran is about 83 million.
