Iran sees increase in mining production

Iran’s raw steel production increased by 1.5 percent during the first four months of the current Iranian year (from March 21 through July 22, 2021), compared to the same period last Iranian year, Trend reports citing the statistics of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade of Iran.

According to the statistics, a total of 9.55 million tons of raw steel were produced in Iran over the reporting period. While in the same period last Iranian year, Iran has produced 9.4 million tons of crude steel.

Within the four months, Iran produced 100,000 tons of copper cathode, which is an increase of 5.3 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 94,900 tons of copper cathode were produced in Iran in the same period last Iranian year.

The production of aluminum ingots in the first four months of the last Iranian year was 134,000 tons. This figure increased by 30.7 percent over the first four months of the current Iranian year and amounted to 176,000 tons.

“In addition, there was a 1.7-percent decrease in Iran’s coal production over the 4 months. So, Iran produced 484,000 tons of coal within the mentioned period. While in the same period last Iranian year, this figure amounted to 492,000 tons,” the statistics said.

According to the statistics, cement production in Iran was 21.5 million tons in the four months of the current Iranian year. While in the same period last

Iranian year, Iran has produced 23.2 million tons of cement. This means a decrease of 6.9 percent.

The production of sheet glass in Iran over the 4 months, increased by 30 percent, compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, Iran produced 442,000 tons of sheet glass during the reporting period. However, this figure was 340,000 tons in the same period last year.

"Iran produced about 147 million square meters of ceramics in the four months. This is 13.6 percent more than the same period last Iranian year. Thus, 129 million square meters of ceramics were produced in the country in the same period last Iranian year," the statistics said.

Furthermore, 247,000 tons of glassware were produced in Iran within the 4 months, which is an increase of 4.9 percent compared to the same period last Iranian year. So, 236,000 tons of glass containers were produced in the country in the same period last Iranian year.

The production of porcelain for the first 4 months of the current Iranian year amounted to 19,600 tons. This is 30.7 percent more than the same period last Iranian year. So, Iran has produced 15,000 tons of porcelain in the same period last year, the statistics said.
