BAKU, Azerbaijan, Oct. 4
By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev's proposal for a six-party regional cooperation platform, a "3+3" (Russia, Iran and Turkey, plus 3 Caucasus countries - Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia) platform, will further develop relations between these countries, the former head of Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI), Mohammad Reza Modudi told ILNA, Trend reports.
According to Modudi, the “3+3” platform has great positive economic effects.
So, this platform can become an economic union and play a supporting role. From an economic point of view, the platform will both significantly reduce costs and strengthen ties between countries.
The expert also added that the “3 + 3” platform can resolve many political issues and resolve security disputes.
“Iran's strong participation in economic and regional platforms and agreements is definitely in its favor. Iran's economy needs to increase its agreements with neighboring countries and target markets for its exports. Economic and trade relations with these countries, Iran's share in the markets of these countries and other issues are secondary issues," he stressed.
Modudi noted that the important issue is that the necessary economic infrastructure must be created inside Iran.
“Iran still has many weaknesses in the development of exports. Goods must be able to compete in the international market in terms of production and variety. At the same time, there is a weakness in terms of support services. Iran needs to operate at the international level in logistics, banking, insurance and other areas. The country's support agencies have no competition in this area," said Modudi.
