Prices of essential food items including those on rice and meat are increasing in Iran, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.
Price of domestic rice has increased by 56 percent since the last Iranian year (started March 20,2020), while the price on imported rice increased by 27.5 percent.
Milk price has soared by 69 percent, yoghurt - by 76 percent, cheese by 68 percent, while butter - by 108 percent - all in the current Iranian year (started March 21,2021), compared to the last year.
Price of red meat has increased due to shortage of livestock inputs, including beef meat (63 percent), sheep meat (35 percent).
Price of vegetables also rose in past year, including onion (102 percent), tomato (39 percent), potato (68 percent).
Statistics show the prices on some items such as vegetable oil, banana and chicken had slight decline from August 23 to September 22.
