Iran exported 4.64 million tons of agricultural and food products worth $2.8 billion, during the first seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021), the Spokesman for the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports citing the administration.

According to Latifi, the exports of agricultural and food products for 7 months accounted for 10.3 percent of Iran’s total exports in terms of value and 6 percent in terms of volume.

“So, Iran exported $554 million worth of dried fruits, $280 million worth of various vegetables, $260 million worth of various cereal and chocolate products, and $218 million worth of dairy products during the reporting period,” he added.

The spokesman noted that Iran also exported 206 million worth of tomatoes, $204 million worth of various fruits, $175 million worth of watermelons and $117 million worth of dates, as well as $114 million worth of grapes, $105 million worth of apples, $102 million worth of various fishery products, $80 million worth of various fruit juices and fruit kernels.

“Within seven months, Iran exported $62 million worth of foodstuff, $60 million worth of saffron, $59 million worth of potatoes and $46 million worth of tomatoes, $31 million worth of citrus fruits, $28 million worth of melon, $15 million worth of spices, $14 million worth of tea and $8 million worth of various jams,” Latifi said.

As reported, Iran's foreign trade turnover for the seven months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through October 22, 2021) amounted to 98 million tons worth $54.8 billion. The trade turnover increased by 43 percent in terms of value and 16.5 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

So, Iran exported 75.2 million tons of goods worth $27.1 billion in 7 months, which is an increase of 47 percent in terms of value and 15 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.

In addition, Iran imported 23.5 million tons of goods worth $27.7 billion within the mentioned period, which is an increase of 38 percent in terms of value and 21 percent in terms of volume, compared to the same period last Iranian year.
