Iran halts livestock export to Oman

TEHRAN, Iran, Jan.6

Trend:

Iran is halting the export of 2,000 livestock to Oman due to a rise in meat price and resuming export ban, said the Managing Director of National Union of Livestock, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Iranian exporters were to export livestock to Oman via landing craft, but the export has been halted due to an increase in red meat price in the domestic market, Afshin Sadrdadras noted.

Exporters have faced losses since they invested in livestock input and care during quarantine and paid the cost of transportation, he indicated.

Iran has increased red meat production in recent years and reached 880,000 tons of red meat in the last Iranian year (started March 20, 2020).
