TEHRAN, Iran, Feb.28
Trend:
Iran is seeking to develop Chabahar Port through investments and
improved trade, said Head of the Transportation and Logistics
Commission of Iran Chamber of Commerce Ali Hosseini, Trend reports citing
ILNA.
"The government has started to develop the port and expected to
access national railway network to Chabahar Port by 2023," he
said.
"Iran can export petrochemical products via this port and can cover
transit to Pakistan and Afghanistan. Chabahar port could provide
services to Iran and foreign shipping lines," he indicated.
"The Iranian and Indian governments are investing in Chabahar Port
for the construction of the railway route. Afghanistan and Pakistan
are also interested in investment in Chabahar to connect to the
International North-South Transport Corridor," said Hosseini.
Iran, India, and Afghanistan signed a trilateral economic agreement
in January 2016, to develop the Chabahar Port in south-eastern
Iran.
