BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 19. As many as 75 new mines were put into operation in the Razavi Khorasani Province (north-eastern Iran), over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), Chairman of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Razavi Khorasan Province Amir Reza Rajabi said, Trend reports citing the organization.

According to Rajabi, the mines contain about 42 million tons of mineral reserves. About 1.42 million tons of minerals can be extracted from the mines annually.

The chairman added that currently, iron ore, copper, chromite, lead and zinc, marble, coal and other minerals are extracted from these mines. The mines are located in 21 counties of the province.

"In general, the country’s private sector has spent 2.08 trillion rials (about $49.7 million) on the mentioned 75 mines, and as a result, 525 people were employed," he said.

Rajabi noted that there are currently a total of 1,010 mines in Iran's Razavi Province. These mines have mineral reserves of about 2.88 billion tons. About 55 million tons of minerals can be extracted from the mines annually. A total of 25 trillion rials (about $595 million) has been spent on these mines, and 12,388 people were employed.
