Iran ready to start using 'Crypto-rial', in pilot mode for now

TEHRAN, Iran, June 25. The governor of the Central Bank of Iran Ali Salehabadi said that Iran's digital currency - 'Crypto-rial' is ready to be used, on a trial basis from September, Trend reports citing IRNA.

Salehabadi said in time, Crypto-rial should substitute the everyday-used banknotes in Iran. He said Crypto-rial should become the country's new currency.

"The test use of Crypto-rial across Iran will be limited," he said. "Then it will spread across all the country."

The Central Bank of Iran is tasked to authorize the allowed members to assess the possible impact of the new currency on Iran's economy, on a regular basis.
