BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 23. The harvest in Kazakhstan is expected to exceed the annual average level, the country’s Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov said during an expanded government meeting, Trend reports.

Smailov noted that the weather conditions are generally favorable for forage harvesting. However, the work in Mangistau and Atyrau regions lags behind schedule.

"These regions need to intensify this work," he stressed.

The prime minister added that the government has taken all the necessary measures to financially and logistically support the harvesting work.

"Since the harvest is expected to be higher than the average annual indicators, the main task of the Ministry of Agriculture and regional authorities is the timely and high-quality harvesting," Smailov said, instructing to ensure the readiness of the elevators to receive and store the crop.

Besides, the ministries of agriculture and industry, as well as the Kazakhstan Railways national company together with the regional authorities were instructed to carry out work to provide rolling stock and solve logistics issues.

The prime minister also instructed the Ministry of Agriculture, together with the Food Contract Corporation, to take measures to ensure the timely formation of fodder stocks for the winter period while maintaining stable prices for them.
