BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27. The center for the production and distribution of 'green' hydrogen will be created in the Mangystau region of Kazakhstan, Trend reports citing the press service of the President of Kazakhstan.

The relevant project was presented to the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the President of the European Council Charles Michel, who is on an official visit to Astana, Kazakhstan.

The investor of this project is Svevind Group a group of German companies in the renewable energy industry. It plans to organize the production of 'green' hydrogen in the Mangystau region with a capacity of 2 million tons annually.

The project involves the construction and operation of a desalination plant with a capacity of 255,000 cubic meters per day, a 40 GW renewable energy (wind, solar) station and 20 GW of water electrolysis for export or domestic consumption.

The implementation of projects will allow to the creation of about 3,500 jobs during the construction period and about 1,800 new permanent jobs during the phased commissioning of facilities. It also provides for cooperation between German and Kazakh universities to train personnel in the Mangystau region. In addition, it's planned to build infrastructure at the expense of Svevind Group and pay social obligations for the socio-economic development of the region.
