IMF MISSION HOLD TALKS WITH FINANCE MINISTRY

An International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission headed by Vitaliy Kramarenko, the Deputy Director of the IMF Department for Near East and Central Asia, arrived in Baku

on Wednesday. IMF office in Baku told Trend that the mission had held talks with the Azerbaijani Finance Minister, Avaz Alakbarov. The talks focused on economic situation in the country and 2006 public budget.

The same day the mission plans to meet with Farhad Aliyev, the Minister for Economic Development.

The key objective of the mission is appraisal of the fiscal policy and major structural reforms, designed by the Azerbaijani government for 2005. The mission will also render consultations on the draft 2006 public budget.
