The World Bank (WB) delegate on transport is expected to arrive in Baku on 26 September, the Azerbaijan Transport Ministry told Trend. The goal of the visit is to hold discussions with the Ministry on the implemented work within the development of transport infrastructure, reforms and construction of highways.
The Ministry noted that the discussions would concern the project on the construction and the reconstruction of the Alat-Astara highway. The project requires approximately $400m, while $300m to be allotted by the WB, the rest вЂ" by Azerbaijan ($60m) and Iran ($40m). Iran agreed to give a $40m credit to implement the project.
The length of the Alat-Astara highway is 243 km.
