Azerbaijan Ready to Attract Foreign Specialist Shipbuilders to Install Shipbuilding Facilities in Country

Within a project on construction of a new shipyard enterprise in the Country, Azerbaijan`s Caspian Shipping Company is about to attract specialist shipbuilders from other countries, Aydin Bashirov, Chief of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company told, Trend reports.

At present, work on the project is underway. Countries such as Korea, Israel, Turkey, Japan, Poland, and others have already expressed their wish to participate in this project, he said.

It will be the most up-to-date enterprise. All types of vessels such as dry cargo ships, takers, yachts, passenger ships, that Azerbaijan may require are expected to be built within this project. The shipyard will have the capacity to build vessels with the deadweight of 3.000-30.000 tons

According to Mr. Bashirov, the new shipyard will be located behind Baku City. The enterprise is expected to be constructed on the territory of Garadagh District of Azerbaijan. A new international sea trade port is likely to be constructed in the same area. At the same time, according to Mr. Bashirov, a new smaller dry cargo port is expected to be constructed in Zikh. It will have 3-4 mooring lines aimed at unloading ecologically accepted cargoes such as food and others items.

The new project is expected to be constructed on the basis of four shipyards available in the Country. Today, all these enterprises are located in the Baku Bay. However, a decision on removing all the industrial facilities located within the Bay behind the City is expected to take place in the near future.
