Business Materials 27 October 2006 17:25 (UTC +04:00)

At present, Azerbaijan`s Caspian Shipping Company is ready to ship 20 m. tons of oil and refined oil products via the Caspian Sea. At a significant increase of the shipment of oil and oil products, Caspian Shipping Company might view the possibility on attracting new tankers, Aydin Bashirov, Chief of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company told today, Trend reports.

At present, the tankers with the deadweight of 13.000 tons are carrying oil and oil products to the Iranian Port of Neka. The capacity of the port does not allow receiving such tankers. Therefore, the Azerbaijani party carries out a raid unshipping using a tanker with a lesser deadweight. The other Caspian countries are not capable to carry out such operations yet, since they do not have lesser tankers. In order to implement this project, the Caspian shipping Company has acquired special equipment aimed at safe carrying out these

operations.

If new tankers are bought, then they will be of those which were ordered in Russian Shipbuilding Facilities Krasnoye Sormovo. These tankers are the project Heydar Aliyev. The tanker of this project is referred to the class river-sea, equipped with 12 cargo tanks and one depositing tank. It has water ballast tanks in its inturned well and double bottom. The length of the tanker is 152 m, its width 17.30 m, the depth 10.5 m. and the draught 6.99 m. The speed of the tanker at the full loading is 10 knots. The tanker's deadweight of 13.000 tons is the maximum one for a vessel that can be freely operated in the Caspian Sea without reequipment of its port terminals.

At the same time, the acquiring of the tankers will be carried out if the price on them will remain unchanged. The first three tankers of this project were bought at the price of $13, 8 m. The last two were bought for $15.64 m. At present, the Russian shipyard can offer such tankers at the price not least than $20 m.
