Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. A. Badalova / The gas production in Azerbaijan will reach 30bln cu m by 2010, Natik Aliyev, the Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister, said on 19 October. Most part of gas would be produced at the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli field. BP will be the operator for development of the gas fields.
"Our largest gas fields and reserves are in the Shah Deniz field," Aliyev said. The field may provide about 22bln cu m of gas per year until 2020.
There are many gas-rich fields in Azerbaijan such as Nakhchivan, Absheron, and Alov.
