Russian Stroytransgaz launches large gas pipeline project in Turkmenistan

The Russian Stroytransgaz company launched a major project in Turkmenistan. The project worth 395 million euros and is a part of the currently constructed transnational gas pipeline in the direction of China.

Stroytransgaz launched welding of the linear section of the pipeline Malay - Bagtiyarlik with a length of 184.54 km and diameter of 1,420 mm. The project's is the State concern Turkmengaz. The contract was concluded in April 2008, said the press release.

The gas pipeline from the Malay field in the Bagtiyarlik settlement on the border with Uzbekistan will be laid through the territory of Central Asia's largest sand desert Karakum.

As general contractor Stroytransgaz will perform construction of the linear section of the pipeline, plant for drying gas, self-supporting metering unit, a linear operational bases, units and start receiving wastewater treatment plants, transmission lines, will undertake the installation of linear crane assemblies, electrochemical systems, and remote (SCADA) . In addition, the company will build two helipads, five crossing roads and railways, as well as a crossing over the Amu Darya river which is 1.7 kilometres obliquely by directional drilling.

Currently, construction works are being implemented on the right bank of the river. Loads on the right bank of the pipeline are delivered by barge from railway stations Karabekaul and Palvart located on the left bank of the Amu Darya.

The linear welding of the pipeline is made through the installation of automatic welding of CRC-Evans, which significantly will accelerate the construction and provide high quality work
