Kazakhstan, Astana, September 7 / Trend , K.Konirova /
The main reason that Kazakhstan lost its interest in the project of building a refinery in the Turkish Ceyhan Port is not the economic component, but the political influence, Turkish Ambassador to Kazakhstan Atilla Gunay told Trend .
"It is known that an interest in this project was also displayed by Russia, whose position is also very important for Kazakhstan, which has long and strategic relationships with it. Kazakhstan has not yet made a final decision on this issue, whether to build a refinery in Ceyhan. Although Ankara has always encouraged its participation," said Günay.
"But nevertheless, it is known that the work on it [construction of oil refineries] continues. In my opinion, after the recent visit of Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin to Turkey, the situation on this issue improved," said the ambassador.
The three partners - KazMunayGas, Turkish Calik Enerji and Indian Oil India decided to build a refinery with a capacity of 20 million per year in Turkey.
This project also envisages constructing an entire port infrastructure: mooring, tankers and pipeline to the plant.
The initial version of the project cost was estimated at $5 billion.
Turkish Calik Enerji, which received a license to build a refinery, established a subsidiary company DAPRAS, in which KazMunayGas and Oil Indian must purchase their shares to participate in this project.
