Azerbaijan, Baku, Sept. 15 / Trend , E.Ismayilov/
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) is currently transporting around 7,500 tons oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline per day, a source in SOCAR said.
To carry out the planned technical works, the transportation of the Azerbaijani oil via this pipeline will be suspended for eight hours on Sept. 16. Moreover, beginning from Sept. 16, pumping of oil through the pipeline will be cut to 6,500 tons per day.
According to the planned schedule, transportation of oil, scheduled for this month, will finish by Sept. 17, the source said.
In September, the pipeline transported 140,000 tons of oil. Under the forecasts, it will transport 248,000 tons in October, 240,000 tons in November, and 140,000 tons in December.
The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) ships its oil via the Novorossiysk port. In January-August, SOCAR exported around 1.7 million tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline compared to over 865,000 tons in the same period of 2008. A total of 240,000 tons of the Azerbaijani oil was exported via this oil pipeline in August compared to around 240,000 in the same period of 2008.
In 2009, SOCAR intends to increase oil export via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline to 2.5 million tons compared roughly 1.3 millions tons in 2008.
Today, via the Baku - Novorossiysk oil pipeline, Azerbaijan receives (at the port of Novorossiysk) Urals brand oil because of mixing with other oil producers.
The operator of the Baku-Novorossiysk was the Azerbaijan International Operating Company until the end of 2007. The SOCAR began to operate the pipeline since 2007.
