Based on results of 2009, the Georgian Union of Oil Products Producers, Importers and Consumers announced the SOCAR Georgia Petroleum (SOCAR's subsidiaryin Georgia), the largest taxpayer in the state budget in oil and refined products business, SOCAR said today.

Based on results of 2009, the Georgian Union of Oil Products Producers, Importers and Consumers announced the SOCAR Georgia Petroleum (SOCAR's subsidiaryin Georgia), the largest taxpayer in the state budget in oil and refined products business, SOCAR said today.

In 2009, the company transferred more than 162 million lari ($95 million) to the Georgian state budget.

SOCAR Georgia Petroleum provides the bulk of the Georgian petroleum products market.

In 2010, SOCAR Georgia Petroleum plans to sale 415,000 tons of petroleum products in the Georgian market compared to more than 406,000 tons in 2009.

Of the total volume of oil products sold in 2009 in the Georgian market, 109,500 tons fell to petrol, 174,000-diesel fuel, 30,000-aviation kerosene, 7,170-petroleum bitumen and  4,500 tons of  fuel oil.

Azerbaijani process oil at two Baku refineries with total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Both refineries enter SOCAR, which annually processes more than six to seven million tons of oil from offshore and onshore fields independently.

In 2009, the Baku refineries processed 6.03 million tons of oil compared to 7.35 million tons in 2008.
