Oil production at Soroush oilfield will increase by 40,000 barrels of oil per day, Fars News Agency reported quoting Managing Director of Iranian Offshore Oil Company Mahmoud Zirakchian as saying.
"The Soroush oil field currently produces 90,000 barrels of oil per day, we are negotiating with an international company to increase the volume by 40,000 bpd", he said.
He did not give the name of this foreign company.
Soroush oil field is considered to be one of the biggest oil fields in Persian Gulf with more than 10 billion barrels of oil reserve.
The Iranian Offshore Oil Company plans to increase the volume of production by injecting gas into the oil field.
The Soroush and Norouz oil field heavy crude oil production capacities with IPI 11 to 21 are 190,000 barrels of oil per day. The Sourosh oil field is located 80 kilometers west of Khark Island.
Iran has OPEC's second-highest oil output, and ranks second in the world in terms of natural gas reserves after Russia.
