Kazakhstan increases production and consumption of electricity in 2011

Electricity production in Kazakhstan amounted to 86.2 billion kWh in 2011, which is 4.7 percent more than in 2010, Statistics Agency of Kazakhstan said.

The agency noted that According to authorities, electricity consumption amounted to 88.1 billion kWh, an increase of 5.2 percent more than in 2010. by 5.2 percent compared to 2010.

Electric power generation from renewable sources of energy amounted to 423 million kWh in 2011, an increase of 20 million kWh or 4.73 percent more than in 2010.

The construction of Moinak hydropower with capacity of 300 MW and gas turbine power plant (CCPP) at Akshabulak with a capacity of 87 MW are completed in 2011.

Ural power plant (54 MW) power unit number 2 at the Aksu Power Plant (325 MW), wind power capacity of 1.5 MW are commissioned.

A pilot project on the use of methane-based gas-piston power plant with capacity of 1.4 MW is implemented on Coal Department of JSC ArselorMittalTemirtau for the first time.
