In January-June, Azerenergy (electricity generation and distribution in Azerbaijan) generated more than 11.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity compared to over 10 billion kilowatt-hours during the same period last year, Azerenergy said on Monday.
Of the total electricity generated in January-June, thermal power plants accounted for about 9.9 billion kilowatt-hours and hydropower plants - more than 1.2 billion.
In June, Azerenergy generated about 1.6 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity compared to about 1.3 billion kilowatt-hours in June 2011.
Also a planned power interchange with Russia, Iran, Turkey, and Georgia continued during this period.
