Azerbaijan to commission major power facility in autumn

JSC Azerenergy (electricity generation and distribution in Azerbaijan) plans to commission the Janub gas-turbine station later this year, Azerenergy told Trend on Friday.

According to the report, work within this project is carried out in accordance with the schedule. At present, work on the installation of the necessary equipment is underway within the construction of the new power plant.

"One can say that the project is in its final stage and it is possible that the new power plant will be commissioned in the autumn," Azerenergy said.

The capacity of the power plant will be 780 megawatts. It will work on three types of fuel - gas, diesel and fuel oil. From this point of view, this power plant is unique and has no analogues in Eastern European countries and the CIS.

Commissioning of the new power facility will enhance the energy security of the Absheron Peninsula and southern regions of the country, as well as improve the efficiency of power transmission and distribution systems.
