Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec.4 / Trend E.Ismayilov /

The U.S. imported 46,000 barrels of oil from Azerbaijan in September 2012, U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said on Tuesday.

The last time the U.S. imported Azerbaijani oil products was in 2008, when 308,000 barrels of oil products from Azerbaijan were supplied to the country.

According to the EIA, the entire volume of oil products imported into the United States in September accounted for naphtha (as raw material for petro chemistry).

Azerbaijan produces oil products at the two Baku oil refineries with a total capacity of 20 million tons of oil per year. Both oil refineries are owned by SOCAR, which annually processes about six to seven million tons of oil from the Azerbaijani offshore and onshore fields.
