Under the new law "On Oil and Gas", adopted by the Turkish Parliament, companies engaged in gas production in Turkey, will be able to sell the produced gas on the domestic market themselves, the Sabah newspaper reported on Monday.
The law will come into force from Jan.1, 2013. The companies are not allowed to supply gas to residential buildings.
In addition, under the law, consumption of gas by subscribers of apartments will be limited. Thus, each subscriber will be able to consume no more than 300,000 cubic meters of gas a year.
Annual gas production in Turkey was 674 million cubic meters in 2011.
