Construction of a new substation and transmission lines in Georgia will allow Azerbaijan to export annually 500-600 megawatt/hours of electricity to this country, Azerbaijani Industry and Energy Minister, Natig Aliyev told journalists on Dec. 16.
The minister said Azerbaijan has the capacity to export electricity to Georgia, but these opportunities have widened with the construction of new power facilities in this country.
Natig Aliyev noted that with the connection of power systems of Georgia, Turkey and Azerbaijan in the near future, an opportunity will emerge for exporting electricity to Turkey.
The minister also said that the connection of power systems of these three countries will ensure their parallel work in the area of electricity supply.
The Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Energy Bridge project includes delivery of 1200 megawatt/hours of electricity to Turkey, some 600 megawatt/hours of which will account for Azerbaijan.
In total the project includes annual export of 2,000 megawatt/hours of electricity from Turkey to Europe.
