Uzbekneftegaz in Beijing mulls Uzbekistan-China gas pipeline

On Oct. 10-12, a delegation of Uzbekistan’s oil and gas company Uzbekneftegaz, headed by Acting Chairman of the Board Bakhrom Ashrafkhanov, was on a working visit in Beijing, the press service of the Uzbek company said on Oct. 17.

The delegation visited Chinese company Richfit and got acquainted with the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. They also visited the Petrochemical Research Institute of the China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), where they got acquainted with the latest scientific achievements.

The Uzbek delegation also visited the Beijing Petroleum Machinery company, specializing in production of oil and gas equipment.

Representatives of Uzbekneftegaz held talks with CNPC President Wang Yilin and Chairman of the Board of Trans-Asia Gas Pipeline Company Limited (TAPLINE) Meng Fanchun.

Uzbekneftegaz and CNPC discussed results of the implementation of joint investment projects. Yilin emphasized the positive results in the drilling of the M-15 well at the Mingbulak field. He noted the effectiveness of the work carried out at this field.

The sides discussed construction of the fourth line of the Uzbekistan-China gas pipeline, development of the Hadjisayat field, export of Uzbek natural gas to China, etc.

During the meeting with representatives of TAPLINE, a detailed discussion of the existing and future areas of cooperation took place. The parties highly appreciated the fruitful bilateral cooperation, which resulted in successful implementation of projects on construction of three lines of the Uzbekistan-China gas pipeline, which laid the foundation for establishment of natural gas supply to China.

The parties addressed issues related to operation of the Uzbekistan-China gas pipeline, the schedule for transportation of natural gas, as well as discussed preparatory work on construction of the fourth line of the Uzbekistan-China gas pipeline.

China is the main foreign trade partner of Uzbekistan. In January-September 2018, the trade turnover between Uzbekistan and China amounted to $4.43 billion, of which $1.94 billion accounted for exports from Uzbekistan, and $2.49 billion for imports from China.

Over 700 companies with participation of Chinese capital have been operating in Uzbekistan.
