Turkmenistan conducting exploration at oil-bearing structures near Caspian Sea

ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, Dec. 6

By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:

Search and exploration of promising new oil and gas fields continue on Uzynada square, located in the Caspian region of Turkmenistan, Trend reports referring to the Turkmengeology State Corporation.

With the participation of the Turkmennebit (Turkmen Oil) State Concern, preparatory work is being carried out for the construction of an exploratory well with designed depth of 6,500 meters. The area identified as a result of seismic survey was prepared for capital drilling, the report said.

An industrial well with big reserves of raw materials drilled to design depth of more than 7,000 meters is already being operated at the field. Turkmengeology is also completing drilling of the Uzynada-8 well.

In addition, a number of wells with depth of 9,000 meters are planned to be drilled on the Uzynada square - the lower layer of the Pliocene sediment will be opened up there to identify oil and gas potential.

In the west of Turkmenistan, 3D seismic surveys have been already carried out in western Turkmenistan at the Goturdepe field, including the adjacent shallow areas of the Caspian Sea.

In addition, 2D seismic surveys were performed on the territory of Darja, comprising 870 linear kilometers.

Opening of a new oil field “North Goturdepe” at the depth of over 4,000 meters can be mentioned as an example confirming the current activities, the Turkmennebit State Concern reported in August.

As part of the 1st phase of a new investment project implemented by the Turkmennebit State Concern in conjunction with the Singapore-based Yug-Neftegaz company, it was planned to build 60 exploration and production wells, including directional and horizontal ones.
