Iran leads in export of oil bitumen to Georgia, Vano Mtvralashvili, Chairman of the Union of Georgian Oil Product Importers told Trend.

According to Mtvralashvili, Turkmenistan leads in exporting aviation fuel to Georgia.

“In February 2020, imports of oil bitumen to Georgia amounted to 4,600 tons, and aviation fuel - 7,000 tons,” Mtvralashvili noted.

According to him, at this stage, there are no negative effects in the energy sector of Georgia due to the coronavirus spread, including import and production.

“Generally, in terms of prices, over the past 20 days, the price of fuel in Georgia has decreased by 10-15 tetri (3.6-5.4 cents),” said the chairman of the Union of Petroleum Importers of Georgia.

In January 2020, the import of fuels and lubricants into Georgia amounted to 1,700 tons, which is 500 tons or 41.6 percent more than in January 2019.

In January 2020, import of aviation fuel amounted to 5,400 tons, which is 800 tons more than in January 2019 (4,600 tons).

Meanwhile, in January 2020, imports of oil bitumen amounted to 3,200 tons, which is 900 tons or 28.1 percent less than in January 2019.

During the reporting period, imports of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Georgia amounted to 4,000 tons.
