Almost half of the work on modernization of existing equipment at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery has been completed, Deputy Head of Public Relations and Events Department at the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Ibrahim Ahmadov told Trend.
The modernization of existing facilities at the Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery is continuing, said Ahmadov.
“Over 88 percent of the engineering and designing work, 83 percent of procurement of all equipment and installations, 72 percent of production and delivery work, and about 22 percent of construction and commissioning work at the refinery were also completed,” SOCAR’s representative noted.
The Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery is one of the largest oil refineries in the Transcaucasian region, located on the Absheron Peninsula. It’s annual productivity is about 4-6 million tons. The refinery aims to increase this figure to 10 million tons.
Higher production volumes at the Heydar Aliyev refinery can be achieved in 2025, when the project for modernization of the refinery, which began in 2015, will fully be completed.
