Turkmenistan, UAE intend to strengthen co-op in energy sector

Turkmenistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) intend to strengthen cooperation in the energy, transport, environmental, and chemical industries, Trend reports with reference to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

This was said during a telephone conversation between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Presidential Affairs of the UAE Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

During the talks, the parties noted the high level of bilateral cooperation in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian fields.

In addition, they highlighted the result of interaction between the foreign ministries of the two countries and the similar positions on key aspects of the regional and international agenda, the report says.

The parties also considered the possibility of increasing cooperation to counter the spread of coronavirus in the world.

Generally, the UAE companies are significantly represented in the Turkmen energy market.

Previously, the UAE's Petrofac oil and gas company expressed its readiness to continue cooperation with Turkmenistan in the development of the Galkynysh gas field.

Galkynysh field, with a total area of more than 4,000 square kilometers, includes more than 40 wells, the production rate of each reaches on average 2 million cubic meters of gas per day.

Hyundai, LG (Republic of South Korea), CNPC (China), Petrofac, Gulf Oil & Gas International Fze (UAE) were involved in the development of Galkynysh field at different stages.
