Oxford Energy Institute talks areas of interest in Turkmen oil, gas sector

Gas industry development, gas markets, flows of gas exports, other ways of using gas in the country are the main aspects of Turkmen Oil and Gas sector that interests more Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, the representative of Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) Julian Bowden told Trend.

In terms of OIES’ interest in Turkmenistan, he noted that gas industry developments in and gas trade from Turkmenistan are of great interest and OIES try to keep up-to-date with what is going on.

“Oxford Institute for Energy Studies (OIES) will continue to try to keep up-to-date and well informed on Turkmenistan,” he noted, adding that OIES will continue to try to keep up-to-date and well informed on Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan has vast reserves of gas and done many imaginative and impressive things, such as the pipeline exports to China, the development of petrochemical complexes and a world-scale gas-to-gasoline plant at Turkmenistan's Ovadandepe town, he said.

As it was reported earlier, Natural gas production in Turkmenistan will increase by 78 percent and reach the level of more than 141 billion cubic metres by 2050, at a annual growth rate of 1.9 percent.

As a holder of the fourth-largest volume of gas reserves worldwide, Turkmenistan has been unlocking the potential of natural gas, leading to 11.5 percent average economic growth rate between 2000 and 2019, continuously expanding domestic gas production, attracting investors, and enhancing knowledge and technologies exchange.
