BAKU, Azerbaijan, Apr. 26

By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

The Iranian Bouali Sina Petrochemical Company ended importing benzene to Iran, by fulfilling its plan on benzene production by 100 percent in the last Iranian year (from March 20, 2020, through March 20, 2021), an official of the company Ardalan Sadaghatzadeh said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official stressed that the company produced 85,600 tons of benzene over last Iranian year, which is an increase of 8 percent compared to the preceding Iranian year (from March 21, 2019, through March 19, 2020).

Sadaghatzadeh added that benzene is used as the main product in detergents and health care products. During the coronavirus pandemic, the Bouali Sina Petrochemical Company met the country's needs for this product fully by increasing the production of benzene and exported the remaining product.

“The company also increased light naphtha production by 22 percent, heavy naphtha production by 7 percent, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) production by 7 percent,” he said.

According to the official, the exports of the company's products across land borders increased by 340 percent. This is due to the reduction of land transportation costs compared to sea transport.

Reportedly, the plants of Iran's Bouali Sina Petrochemical Company are located in the Khuzestan Province (southwestern Iran). The company can produce 180,000 tons of benzene, 40,000 tons of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), 350,000 tons of light naphtha, 499,000 tons of heavy naphtha, and 700,000 tons of reformate products per year.
