Georgian Railway’s transportation of oil products in 1H2021 increases

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 26

The volumes of oil products transported by the Georgian Railway from January through June 2021 increased by 46 percent compared to the same period in 2020, Trend reports with reference to Georgian media.

According to the information, during the reporting period, Georgian Railway transported oil products worth 2.1 million tons, which is 677,000 more than in 2020.

It is noted that the growth in volumes of transported oil products was recorded both in terms of general semi-annual indicators and monthly.

In particular, the transit of Azerbaijani oil increased by 70 percent, while the turnover of Turkmen goods increased by 95 percent, both in relation to oil products and dry cargo.

It is reported that in just six months of 2021, cargo transportation by Georgian Railway amounted to six million tons, which is 500,000 more than in the same period in 2020.

The current growth rate accounts for 10 percent - a record for the past 11 years.
