The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) intends to extract gas from the Iran- Saudi Arabia joint Farzad B gas field in the short term, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.
The deputy minister noted that the development of this field has been entrusted to a local Iranian company. Currently, the installation of a jacket in the field is in the spotlight. The jacket will be carried to the field and installed in about 6 months.
Khojasteh Mehr added that after the jacket is installed, the platform will be set up on it, following by the actual drilling of wells at the field.
The Farzad B gas field is one of the joint fields between Iran and Saudi Arabia and is located 20 kilometers from Farsi Island.
On May 17, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and the Petropars Operation and Management Company (POMC) signed a contract on the development of the Farzad B gas field.
According to the contract, $1.78 billion will be spent in order to extract 28 million cubic meters of sour gas daily.
