BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov met with Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) Francesco La Camera within the 8th Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue Conference 2022, Trend reports with reference to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy.

During the meeting, Shahbazov spoke about the ongoing and planned renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan and potential spheres for cooperation with IRENA.

In particular, the issue of encouraging investors in various spheres related to the use of renewable energy in the Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions was discussed.

The residential buildings in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan will be provided with energy through renewable energy sources in accordance with the ‘green energy zone’ concept.

The solar collectors were installed above all the houses in one of these villages. The solar panels with a capacity of more than 300 kW and three Archimedes solar panel installations with a total capacity of 636 kW were installed above public buildings.

IRENA director general expressed gratification with the cooperation with Azerbaijan and stressed IRENA's support in assessing current opportunities.

The views on other issues of bilateral cooperation were exchanged during the meeting.
