BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 18. The power generation capacity of Iran's Thermal Power Plants has increased by more than 3,000 megawatt-hours since the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2022), Trend reports citing the Iranian Energy Ministry.

Generally, it is planned to build 28 power units with a capacity to generate 4,270 megawatt-hours of electricity in the country by the end of the current Iranian year (March 20, 2023). So far, 13 power units with the capacity to generate 2,324 megawatt-hours of electricity have been commissioned in Iran.

According to the report, 654 megawatt-hours have been added to the country's electricity generation capacity by increasing the generation capacity of gas units and combined cycle units.

In addition, the removal of restrictions on steam units has increased the power generation capacity of the country's thermal power plants by 100 megawatt-hours.

By the end of the 3rd month of the current Iranian year (June 21), Iran will launch new power units with the capacity to generate 520 megawatt-hours of electricity. Also, new units with a generation capacity of 612 megawatt-hours of electricity will be launched in the country by the end of the 4th month (July 22).
