Azerbaijan increases share of natural gas in exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, July 18. Natural gas accounted for 40.26 percent of Azerbaijan’s total exports from January through June 2022, versus 18 percent in the same period in 2021, Trend reports with reference to the State Customs Committee.

Azerbaijan increased natural gas exports by 9.5 percent from January through June 2022 as compared to the same period in 2021, with total volume of exports rising from 10.379 billion cubic meters (bcm) to 11.365 bcm.

The value of gas exports rose by almost 4.7 times from $1.586 billion in the first six months of 2021 to $7.44 billion in the same period in 2022.

Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Europe began on December 31, 2020 with the commissioning of the Southern Gas Corridor comprising of the South Caucasus Pipeline Expansion, the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP).
