Kazakhstan works to increase production capacity of bitumen

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 2. Kazakhstan's Caspi Bitum is working to increase production capacity, Chairman of Board of KazMunayGas (KMG) Kazakhstan National Company Magzum Mirzagaliyev said during a visiting meeting in Atyrau, Trend reports KMG.

The meeting was attended by the management of KMG, Atyrau Oil Refinery (ANPZ) and Aktau Caspi bitumen plant.

Demand for bitumen in Kazakhstan remains seasonal and increases in the summer, during active road construction. In this regard, Mirzagaliyev instructed the responsible structural units of KMG to discuss with the authorized state bodies, the possibility of year on year finance of road construction organizations (advance payments) from the state. This will make it possible to form the necessary bitumen reserves on the domestic market by the beginning of the road construction season.

In addition, during the meeting, the issue of increasing the capacity of the Caspi Bitumen plant by 1.5 times, which in turn will increase the production of high-quality bitumen to 750,000 tons per year was discussed. According to Caspi Bitumen, there is such a possibility of increasing the volume of oil refining, the company has already developed a preliminary feasibility study, and specialists are starting to design.
