TEHRAN, Iran, October 4. Iran’s Ministry of Energy plans to reduce power consumption by 10,000 megawatts via consumption management programs in coming years, said the Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian, Trend reports citing IRNA.
The plan is to encourage consumers to reduce consumption by offering discounts on energy bills based on energy savings, he said.
The ministry stresses energy consumption management and increases in production therefore it pursues updated instruments and new technologies, Mehrabian noted.
According to the official, the policy of the Ministry of Energy is to create balance in the implementation of development projects in the power industry, promoting the performance of current power plants and renewable power plants.
