BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 14. A total of 990 million cubic meters of gas per day are currently supplied into Iran's gas network, Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr told reporters, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The deputy minister noted that this is considered the record figure in gas supplying to the country’s gas network.

“At present, more than 705 million cubic meters of gas per day are produced from the Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar),” he added.

According to Khojasteh Mehr, also more than 200 million cubic meters of gas are produced from the gas fields of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC).

The CEO also pointed out that a certain amount of gas is produced from the gas fields of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC). The launch of several wells in the Aghar gas field of the NISOC has created an opportunity for the sustainability of gas production in the country.

On December 28, 2022, an official of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Hormoz Ghalavand said that Iran currently produces 1.04 billion cubic meters of gas daily from 22 gas fields.

There are currently 74 oil and 22 gas fields in Iran. So, 37 oil fields are operating in the territory of the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), 14 fields – by the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC), 5 fields – by Arvandan Oil and Gas Company (AOGC), and 18 oil fields – Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC).

In addition, 5 gas fields are operating in the territory of the NISOC, 13 fields – the ICOFC, 1 field – Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC), and 3 gas fields – the IOOC.

Iran’s total hydrocarbon reserves are estimated at 1.2 trillion barrels. With available technology and equipment, Iran can extract 340 billion barrels. Thus, 30 percent of the country's hydrocarbon reserves are recoverable, while 70 percent remain underground.
