BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 30. Around 966,668 tons of oil was delivered to the STAR refinery of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR in Türkiye in January 2023, as compared to 767,385 tons delivered in the same period in 2022, showing an increase of almost 26 percent, Trend reports citing the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

The EPDK report shows that the refinery produced more than 1,222 tons of 95 octane unleaded gasoline, 639,532 tons of diesel fuel, 44,824 tons of aviation fuel, 1,703 tons of intermediate products, 125,275 tons of other products, 4,648 tons of heavy vacuum gasoil, 14,867 tons of liquefied petroleum gas, 151,122 tons of naphtha, 76,122 tons of petroleum coke, 55,642 tons of refinery gas and 15,202 tons of high sulfur diesel fuel.

STAR Refinery, with investment value of $6.3 billion came on stream in October 2018. Around $3.3 billion of the project’s cost was covered by loans. The total investment in Star Refinery is expected to stand at $7 billion.

The annual processing capacity of STAR Refinery is 10 million tons. It meets around 25 percent of Türkiye’s refined oil products. The refinery is able to process 214,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
