BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 27. In the third quarter of 2023, Norway’s Equinor delivered a total equity production of 2,007 thousand barrels of oil equivalent (mboe) per day, slightly down from the 2,021 mboe per day recorded during the same period in 2022, Trend reports.

Notably, liquids production witnessed a substantial 12 percent increase compared to the corresponding quarter of the previous year. This growth was primarily attributed to robust operational performance and increased output from key assets, including the Johan Sverdrup field in the Norwegian Continental Shelf (NCS), the partner-operated Vito field in the USA, the Peregrino field in Brazil, and the addition of the Buzzard field in the UK to Equinor's portfolio.

However, gas production faced some challenges due to planned maintenance and unforeseen extended turnarounds on the Troll A-platform and the Nyhamna gas processing facility, operated by a third party. In light of these unplanned setbacks, the estimated production for the year 2023 has been adjusted to be approximately 1.5 percent higher than the levels observed in 2022.

Equinor also reported significant progress in its power production from renewable energy sources, generating 373 gigawatt-hours (GWh) in the quarter, compared to 294 GWh in the same quarter of the previous year. This increase was driven by elevated production levels from UK wind farms and the introduction of new production from onshore renewables in Poland, in addition to the full production of the floating wind farm Hywind Tampen. When including power generated from UK gas-to-power operations, the total power production for the quarter reached 883 GWh.
