ASHGABAT, Turkmenistan, December 6. A possible area of collaboration between the two nations in the energy industry might be the supply of oil and gas equipment and services to the Turkmen market by Romanian firms, a source in the Ministry of Energy of Romania told Trend.

"Romania can become an essential partner for Turkmenistan by providing the necessary knowledge and technology for exploration, modernization of oil and gas production infrastructure, well reconstruction and workover, and equipment workover," the ministry noted.

The Ministry stated that given the substantial energy potential between Romania and Turkmenistan, there are numerous opportunities for cooperation, including the search and exploration of hydrocarbon resources in both the Turkmen section of the Caspian Sea and the Romanian sector of the Black Sea.

It was underlined that the two nations have the potential to engage in tenders for the provision of services in the oil and gas sector, as well as to explore opportunities for the sale of Romanian equipment on a tender basis to Turkmenistan's oil and gas industry.

Furthermore, the ministry added that the two countries could explore the possibility of expanding cooperation in the field of renewable energy production and identifying sources of financing for green energy, as well as discuss the participation of interested Romanian companies in international oil and gas exhibitions and conferences organized in Turkmenistan.

Meanwhile, in early October of this year, representatives of Turkmenistan and Romania held talks on further development of cooperation in the energy sector within the framework of a meeting of the Turkmen-Romanian working commission, where a high level of interstate cooperation based on the principles of mutual trust and mutual benefit was noted.

The Turkmen side stressed that one of the key aspects of Turkmenistan's energy strategy is the further modernization and technical equipment of oil and gas and petrochemical industry enterprises and the implementation of projects for the construction of modern gas processing complexes, including the production of gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation kerosene, polyethylene, polypropylene, and other gas chemical products.
